I know it’s been a while. You know it’s bad when you run into family at an event and someone says “I need to visit your blog, it’s been a while” and your response is “you know what? I need to do the same because IT’S BEEN A WHILE FOR ME TOO”

That aside, I hope 2018 is treating you well!
Now to the question of the day: Would you work in the same company as your significant order (SO)?
There’s a vacancy in a company that one of my friend’s works for and she is considering recommending her SO for the role. She asked me what my thoughts were and I told her to go for it.
Here’s my defense – its two completely different departments. Sure you may run into each other every now and again, but it won’t be bad. Plus, you can recommend him and he may not get selected. So I think you should do this to satisfy your conscience. She said she’d think about it and see what happens from there.
Curious, I’ve asked different people what their thoughts on this matter and have received the following responses: (disclaimer: names changed to protect relationships LOL!)
James – HELL NO! I need my space. Next thing I know, she’ll ask me if I’m free for lunch and when I say no, she’ll screenshot my calendar with a note “NO YOU ARE NOT, SEE YOU AT 12:30 pm”
Katie – NOPE. What if the company collapses? Both of us would be out of a job and would be looking at each other at home. No.
Cindy – Sure if it’s not the same department.
Paula – I can barely stand him as is. Why would I want to be any closer to him than I’m obligated to be??
Phil – Nah, I’m good.
John – No… I like to flirt at work and I like to be comfortable when I do it.
Femi – As a Naija [Nigerian] man I wouldn’t want my girl to hook me up with a job in her company but I won’t mind setting her up.
Me: why? What’s the difference?
Femi – I just don’t want her throwing it in my face, during an argument that she made me. You know how you women are.
Linda – Not if he’s my boss!
Paul – I need my space so no.
Thomas – Obiageli, it depends on the financial situation. Ideally no but when there is no money and responsibilities keep piling up, you won’t know when accept a job, cleaning your wife’s office.
