Hello everyone and Happy February 2017!
I wish you all the joys this new month has to offer!
Okay so, I was struggling with what to put out today. I had nothing. I told my siblings I had nothing. They told me it’ll come to me. And then I told one of my girls’ I had nothing and she was like “blog about me na” so I was like “I WILL.” So now here we go!
I happen to know one of the best cooks in Nigeria and I don’t mean my mommy! For YEARS, this chick has said she’d like to start her own catering business and I have been NAGGING her to do it. She cooks for friends and family members sporadically but the request for orders are never consistent. Sometimes, people ask for things she can’t make YET. As a result, this venture has been on the back burner FOREVER! Well not anymore.
Recently, she spent some time away from work, due to a personal matter. She told me she doesn’t miss work. “I just wish I had something else to do” she said. So I replied “work on your business!” She laughed and said she knew I was going to say that and I told her it’s because I believe in her. We went back and forth about what she believed to be her shortcomings…
Ush: I don’t know how to bake
Me: Get an IG account and follow bakers. When you can, buy ingredients and practice. Try it out on your coworkers. Take pictures of what you make and post time on IG as advertising
Ush: I don’t know how to make food look pretty and presentable
Me: Nne then you learn. No one was born an expert in anything.
Long story a tad shorter, I am going to disturb this chick to greatness! By the grace of God, her business will not pass this 2017. “Imma” project manage the crap outta this venture until it becomes real. So Bubola, GET READY!
Most of you don’t know my friend and may be wondering why I bothered to share this today. I never post something without a purpose so i will tell you:
1. You may be the most talented, naturally gifted person, with a great idea. But that idea does not mean anything if it follows you into the grave.
2. Never allow the people you care about to coast by. Push them to greatness! My friend Ursybubola (as I love to call her) is the BEST PERSON. I have known her since high school and she has always done for others without asking for anything in return. So if I can be to her, the person she has been to me and others, why not?!
3. To quote Steve Harvey “Your gift is the single thing you do at your absolute best with the least amount of effort.” Many people spend years (and loads of money on counseling) trying to figure out, what they want to do in life. My girl can cook! Trust me, I would not be pushing her to do this if she couldn’t.
To that end as opposed to pushing paper, push yourself. Go beyond your comfort to push something you care about. Dreams don’t work if you don’t work it .
Until next time, HAVE AN AMAZING WEEKEND and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!
Love always,
The Wawa-New Yorker
P.S. – Not to toot my own horn but DAMN I’M GOOD! I wrote this without having an ideal of what I’d post in 20 minutes. HOLLER!!!!

It’s all about courage and determination. She should take one step at a time…
I fried plantain one day (just plantain o)and my neighbor (he was white ) tasted it and was screaming the whole day that he has never tasted anything like that before in his life. He said I should consider opening a food wagon with that… lol.
But I’m seriously considering that… lol. Anyways my neighbor enjoyed the plantain and he also made it so American by eating it with peanut butter. I never seen that style before, but he said it tasted so good.
So the bottom line is that your friend should start up something, maybe a food wagon with some small simple food like plantain, and then go from there.

OMG I CAN’T STOP LAUGHING!!!!!!! OBINNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have I told you, I look forward to your responses??
Thank you so much for your HILARIOUS comment! I can relate actually. In undergrad, I used to cook all the time on Sundays and the people in my dorm building (from all walks of life) would go on and on about how good my food was and how I should open a restaurant.
I believe my friend’s case is different because she really is passionate about cooking (a variety of meals and in large quantities) and CAN make a lucrative killing off this talent.
My goal is to get her posting more photos of what she makes and recommend her to people in the area. We’ll see what happens from there. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.
THANK YOU AGAIN FOR BEING SUCH AN ACTIVE CONTRIBUTOR TO MY BLOG!!! You are perfect in my world
