Why I live for a good story…

Happy Friday folks!

I hope you all had an amazing week.

Okay so, I really do have the most amazing mother. Growing up, every situation had a story. My mother really wasn’t the type to shout or force her opinion on anyone. She still isn’t. She’d just tell you a story about someone who went through a similar situation and how she/he overcame it or how they failed, in hopes that you’d make the best choice for you. It is with those same good intentions that I am about to tell you this story.

December something 2014, I was grabbing lunch with my coworkers and I was miserable. They were going back and forth about all the places they’ve been to and comparing notes and experiences while I sat there quietly with a smile.

After lunch, I told my girl Lizzie about it. She asked me “well, why don’t you travel Oby?” I told her about how all my money went to grad school tuition and bills and how I’d planned trips with my family but they fell through either because of money or schedule conflict. “I know, excuses, excuses, excuses.” After everything Lizzie said, like everything else, if I really want to see the world, I need to plan right and make it happen. “Look for trips in advance, book it and tell people. If they can make it? Great! If not, go by yourself!” And then I was “you know what girl, you’re right! Thanks boo” That day, my other coworker told me about cruises, I called Royal Caribbean and booked my birthday cruise for April 2015 and I’ve been traveling all over the world (on my own nickel and dime, while staying on top of my bills and building my savings) ever since!

To quote my favorite author Paulo Coelho again, I really do believe that “people are capable, at any point of their lives, of doing what they dream of.”

On that note, I encourage you to pick out an item from your dream bag or bucket list and plan towards achieving it. You owe it to yourself to do so.
