Happy New Month People! I hope you all had an amazing and safe weekend. Okay so, starting this November, at the beginning of every month, I will share my personal goals with you all. Note that I wrote goals not dreams. Please PROTECT YOUR DREAMS! Bad belle/haters are EVERYWHERE; so keep your dreams (as you work towards them) to yourself! Back to the matter - I have noticed that I do a lot better when I set specific goals for myself. It gives me something to work towards and something to feel good about upon completion. They also stress me out if I fall short … [Read more...]
FINISH IT
Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. Okay so last Wednesday, I went to the gym for the first time in two weeks. So as you can imagine, Kickboxing class that night was brutal. My regular trainer is completing his forth level black belt something something (I wasn't listening to him when he explained the training because I was wondering why he didn't consider me when he was making these plans) and this new class instructor is a different kind of ogbanje (evil spirit). So yea, class was a struggle. I was sooo uncoordinated! ?? I've been training … [Read more...]
Who are your True friends?
Okay so, my Paulo Coelho book for October is The Zahir. Context: Back in March, I decided to embark on The 12 Months of Paulo Coelho - whereby I would read one Paulo Coelho book a month. So far, it's been a mind blowing experience. The man is a genius! He uses stories to take you through journeys that will have you thinking differently. My Igbo name for him is Akachukwu (hand of God) because I strongly believe God sends His messages through him. Anyho - so I'm reading The Zahir and I came across something I really wanted to get your thoughts on: Our true … [Read more...]
Appreciate the Moment
Yesterday I was anxious about somethings and found myself feeling some type of way. So I hit up my soulmee (Hi Soulmee!!?) and as always, she made me feel better. As God will have it, at evening mass last night, the gospel was about when Jesus visited Mary and Martha. In case you are not familiar the story, here's the Cliff notes version: When Jesus went to visit his friends Mary and Martha, Martha was all over the place, anxiously preparing food, serving and trying to make sure everything was perfect for Jesus while her sister Mary just sat by Jesus listening to … [Read more...]
My Subway Love
Years ago, one of my sisters saw a guy in the train, asked "are you Ekene's friend?" the guy said “yes” and they became friends. Fast forward to Wednesday night, I was on the train ride home when I saw the most beautiful man. Tall, dark chocolate skin and a great body. Tall! He was laughing at whatever his friend was telling him while I watched. Chai, I was in awe. I didn't remove my eyes from this guy. I couldn't. I didn't pretend to be on my phone. I didn’t bring out the book I had to appear intelligent. I just continued to stare. Eventually, his friend got off … [Read more...]
