I found this story on livin3.com and decided to share…
A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted…
“Dad, look the trees are going behind!”
His Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old’s childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed…
“Dad, look the clouds are running with us!”
The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man…
“Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?”
The old man smiled and said…“I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today.
Although the moral of the story is “do not judge people before you get a chance to know them” I wanted to highlight another takeaway…
Towards the end of every year, it is really hard to be grateful for the things you have when your mind keeps reminding you of everything you still have to do, or didn’t get a chance to do, or missed opportunities and shortcomings. Last week alone, I complained to anyone who would listen about my skin problems and not once did I thank God for the gift of sight.
*sigh* To say I felt selfish after reading this would be the understatement of the year.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving week (well, at least for us in the States), I would really like to remind everyone (myself especially) that while there may be a lot that may not be going as we planned, we do have so much more to be grateful for. Seeing is a gift, walking is a gift, talking it is a gift, parents, siblings, husbands, wives, children, cousins, friends, jobs, food, YOU NAME IT, they are gifts!
Hopefully, from this story, in addition to not judging people, may we also learn to be grateful for the things we take for granted.
As always, thank you so much for reading.
Until next time, love always,
