Celebrity Crush

Happy Tuesday Everybody!

I am sorry today’s post is coming a tad late. I was off yesterday so today feels like Monday to me.

So onto today’s matter, please eh – have you ever heard that you can learn a lot about someone’s type from his or her celebrity crush?

Okay so, one of my people was gisting me about some guy she met. She told me the usual “he’s smart, cool, funny, ambitious…” but then she mentioned something I’ve never heard before “and his celebrity crush is Nina Simone, so he’s into dark skinned girls which is a good thing”

Me: EH? What does that have to do with anything?

My girl: A lot! You can tell if a man is serious about you or if you are just a “pass time”. Celebrity crushes are like your ideal, or fantasy pick. They set the standard. If someone’s celebrity crush is Beyoncé you know the guy likes lighted skinned beauties. If you don’t look a thing like her, you know you are not his type.

Me: Eh? But isn’t Beyoncé everyone’s type?

My girl: Not exactly. Remember *****? Well, he once said that “everyone likes Beyoncé to play with, but when push comes to shove, they marry Kelly.” That’s how I knew he liked dark-skinned girls too.

Me: Eh?? So… But… Wait… So…. Wait. *My brother came in at that exact time, so I asked him “Come oh, who is your celebrity crush?”

My brother: Serena Williams! Duh!

Me: So you like dark skinned women and banging bodies?

My brother: Did we just meet?? How did you not know that?

Me: “It ain’t about you right now!” *continues with phone conversation* Na wa oo… This your theory seems to be making brain oo…. But is it that serious though?

My girl: Think about it. Most women are extensions of their men. The type of women they go for says a lot about them. Smart men want smart women. Remember Bill Clinton commended Barak Obama for marrying Michelle?

Me: But what does that have to do with your celebrity crush?

My girl: Before you get to know what someone is looking for on a deeper lever, his or her celebrity crush gives you a sense of what the person is into physically?

Me: Okkkkkkkkkayyyyyy. So, now, in addition to “what’s your relationship with God, what’s your genotype, how rich do you plan to be, are you seeing anybody, is anybody seeing you, I should add “who is your celebrity crush to the list?”

My girl: I’m done with you! Obiageli please leave me alone!

I swear I learn something new every day about dating and love and relationships and what-to-ask and how-you-know-this and how-to-be, it’s hilarious. This one really blew my mind so you know I had to share and ask:

My people what do you think? Do you think there is a correlation between who people date/marry and their celebrity crush? Or do you think it doesn’t matter. I’m also interested to learn what other “getting to know you questions” there are out there. PLEASE LET A SISTER KNOW LOL!
