Last week was the best week so far here on blog. Like seriously, for the first time ever, a blog post brought in 30 comments! I mean, few of them (13/30) may have come from me but you know what, that’s not point!
Mehn I was elated! As in, I was like Obiageli, your pump don’ open oh! Soon, you will be featured somewhere, then more people will subscribe to the blog, then they will buy your book, then you will be offered endorsements, then Don Jazzy will discover you and sign you to Marvin Records and then I woke up. ???
All jokes aside, it felt good for my labor of love, to be widely received. I was on Cloud 18 and did not want to come down from it.
That’s how I was on my own, basking in my 2 seconds of joy when someone told me:
You over-expose your life (and the lives of loved ones) in your blog and this can turn people (especially men) off from you. Remember that you are not married. This thing may bring you popularity and money but all that (as a woman) is nothing without a husband and children. You can write about things that happen to you but use other peoples’ names.
………………………… *speechless*
First of all, I could use names like “Mr. Eze” or “one of my cousins twice removed” to write these stories, but it wouldn’t be Confessions of a Wawa New Yorker. That would be Tales by Moonlight. So, no – I am not doing that.
Second of all, and on a more serious note, is the belief/statement that women are “nothing” without a husband and kids still valid/relevant in this day and age? Even in Naija? In 2016? Don’t get me wrong, I am still praying (and believing for) mine but I don’t think my existence means nothing while I wait. ?
Any thoughts?

Keep doing what you do girl. It’s not gonna turn guys away from you. Who ever likes will keep liking, and will even like you more cos you are unique. It’s also even gonna make someone that wants you, get to know u better. Keep doing whatever makes you happy and don’t let what people say to wieight you down or make you change your pattern. People will always talk. As for me, I’m a super fan ?

My dear people will always talk but you don’t have to take it all in. Maybe the ‘husband’ will love you because of how honest and transparent you are. Please women are SOMETHING SPECIAL!!! Husband or not.
